The air will be thick with romance, AVGAS and bacon rolls. If bacon rolls aren’t your idea of romance, then Jimmy’s cafe will be offering a tempting selection of decadent chocolate treats, and a special Cupid friendly hog roast or barbecue.

Entry is just £2 per person on foot or bike, or £5 per car load of people. Flying in? Please PPR at oldbuck.com. Landing fees are half price.

VAC Valentine’s Social

Primarily a Vintage Aircraft Club social event, with the added option of flying in if weather allows, do come and join us at the Aviator Hotel at Sywell on Saturday lunchtime and, as we have booked a table in the Aviator restaurant from 12.30, why not bring along your long-suffering wife or partner and treat them to a Valentine’s lunch?

If you fancy the lunch option, we currently have about 10 places available on our communal table. Please drop Stephen Slater an e-mail (ss@kingpinmedia.co.uk) if you are planning to come, so I can let the Aviator know and/or extend the table.

Of course for those who merely wish to mingle, the bar will be open! We are also planning our customary hangar tour to get up close to some of the aircraft under winter maintenance at Matthew Boddington’s emporium and we hope to negotiate a special private opening of the Sywell Aviation museum, ahead of its public re-opening at Easter.

Those flying in will need to call Sywell AFIS for the customary PPR on 01604 644917. Normal landing fees (£12 for singles) will be charged. Currently, due to airfield conditions, only the hard runway is operational, no grass areas can be used.
