A family trip to Cornwall gave the perfect excuse to visit the Classic Air Force at the former RAF St Mawgan (Newquay airport).
Half hour early gave the chance to take a look at Barry Wallond’s Spitfire IXC replica (PL279) in his garden. I’m sure it’s always raised few eyebrows with drivers using the road from Newquay, and the added bonus of Canberra B2 cockpit (WD954) made a stop in the layby a must.

So on into the easy to find car park for 1000 opening. Brilliant, friendly staff made the entire visit a joy from the minute you stepped in the door. The facilities throughout are clean, well laid out, child friendly (as my 7 year old will testify having spent 3 hours there with her with minimal moaning), and just, well, impressive.
So on into building 404, and a great range of aircraft that (at opening time before others arrived) were well laid out for clear photos.
